What are Azure Integration Services

Azure Integration Services is term for the collection of tools and services offered by Microsoft Azure that addresses various aspects of integrating applications, data, and systems across cloud and on-premises environments. These services are designed to help organizations build, deploy, and manage integrations effectively, enabling seamless communication and data exchange between different applications and services no matter where they are. Essentially, if you want to integrate two services (such as your CRM and your ERP) then this can help you achieve this in a safe decoupled way).

It’s been a while since I’ve posted and want to ensure I remain a current and reliable source for you all, so I am starting a new series on Azure Integration Services. This post will act as a homepage once more content is added.

To be clear, Azure Integration Services is just a term adopted by very few companies who are talking about enterprise integrations. There is no product or suite offered by Microsoft to solve this problem directly, but the following can be considered part of this term.

  1. Azure Logic Apps: Logic Apps allow you to automate workflows and integrate disparate systems, applications, and data sources without writing extensive code. They provide a visual designer for creating workflows using pre-built connectors to various services and platforms.
  2. Azure API Management: API Management helps organizations to publish, secure, analyze, and manage APIs in a scalable manner. It provides features such as API gateway, developer portal, analytics, and security controls to streamline API consumption and management.
  3. Azure Service Bus: Azure Service Bus is a messaging service that enables reliable communication between applications and services. It supports both messaging patterns like publish-subscribe and message queues, facilitating asynchronous and decoupled communication between components.
  4. Azure Event Grid: Event Grid is a fully managed event routing service that simplifies event-driven architectures. It allows you to react to events from various Azure services or custom sources, and route them to different endpoints such as Azure Functions, Logic Apps, or webhooks.
  5. Azure Data Factory: Azure Data Factory is a cloud-based data integration service that enables building, scheduling, and orchestrating data pipelines for data movement and transformation. It supports extracting data from various sources, processing it, and loading it into data stores for analytics and reporting.
  6. Azure BizTalk Services: BizTalk Services offer enterprise integration capabilities, allowing businesses to connect on-premises systems with cloud-based applications and services. It provides features like B2B messaging, EDI processing, and hybrid connectivity.

I will post on each of the above individually as a start, then begin to deep dive into some of the more interesting concepts as we explore all aspects of Azure Integration Services.
